Applied data science project

October 2022 - October 2023

San Diego Association of Governments

SANDAG Data Science Experience

As a Data Science Intern, I built reproducible data pipelines, geospatial datasets, and public-facing analytical products to support regional planning and open-data initiatives across San Diego County.

Selected contributions

Data designed for analysis, quality control, and public use.

01

Employment-center analysis

Helped develop a new version of SANDAG's employment centers, completing the SQL work and creating GIS feature classes. Built longitudinal tables comparing employment totals, industries, jurisdictions, and workforce demographics across 2019, 2020, and 2022.

02

Mobility and origin-destination data

Produced origin-destination datasets for all and primary jobs, then used Replica data to measure weekday trips to employment centers by mode, purpose, vehicle type, and distance across San Diego County.

03

Open data and UN SDG indicators

Researched sources for United Nations Sustainable Development Goal indicators, wrote Python API pipelines, calculated required metrics, and published datasets, maps, visualizations, and measure cards to SANDAG's Open Data Portal.
